YouTube Just Confirmed The Rollout Of This iOS Device Feature
It seems that the test period finally ends – YouTube has confirmed that it will launch image-in-picture (PIP) on iOS “in a matter of days.” This means that iPhone and iPad users will be able to watch videos while working on something else. PIP maintain YouTube videos on top of all other applications that you currently run in a small window and can be changed. Thus, with pips on iOS, you will be able to make the video window take part of your screen, but not all – open the door to the new productivity option.
Tweet from Teamyoutube has been posted in response to users who want to know about PIP features after finding that their initial access to features has disappeared. In a short message, the company leaked that PIP would be available on all devices that run iOS version 15 or later. It’s quite large, and some people might say, long late. After all, many other streaming services have supported PIP.
Youtube trip with pips on Apple devices starts with launching features as exclusive to premium youtube customers. Figure-in-Picture is listed as an experimental feature on the YouTube website and removed entirely on April 8, 2022. Some users lose access to PIP during weekends, and access will likely be spotty between now and the point where this feature is launched to the public.
With the end of the test period, many users lose access to PIP on iOS, if only temporarily. However, this is inconsistent throughout the board. Some YouTube premium customers continue to use PIP even after the test period has ended. Maybe youtube has started launching features in its live version or does not record it for everyone.
Because tests only include premium users, it’s hard not to wonder whether the feature will remain customer only customers after appearing in the YouTube application directly forever. Playing videos in the background has become a perk premium, but PIP is different in terms of you keep looking at the video on your screen – just minimized. It seems that YouTube plans to allow each user to use PIP on iOS, regardless of whether they pay service or not. In a statement shared with Macrumor, the company confirmed that it was a plan, but we would not know for sure until PIP was made fully available.
Quite interesting, youtube confirmation about the pip launch on iOS has been removed since then. You can still see the Tweet on the Wayback machine web archive. However, there is no reason to assume that the company changes the mind about the feature, because many other signs point to the release takes place immediately. At the worst, we might see a small delay, but this is only speculation at this time.
